Strategic Initiative:

Create wealth in our communities by ensuring the region’s targeted growth sectors have the right people in the right numbers with the right skills

Goals:

• Boost immigration/migration into the region
• Establish business/academia government committee to work continuously on region wide workforce issues primarily in targeted growth sectors
• Address aging workforce challenges
• Retain the younger workforce
• Address skills gaps/mismatch

Desired Outcomes:

• Achieve a 50% reduction in firms claiming to have significant workforce challenges (among BRE surveyed firms)
• Attract 300 new immigrants / migrants over five years influenced directly by the efforts of LQRDA
