Exotic Nova Scotia: Hit it right on the Bluenose

Enjoy some dime time in Lunenburg You’ve seen it on the coin, now it’s time to see it in real life. The Bluenose II, a replica of the boat that inspired the image on our 10 cent piece, lives in the historic town of Lunenburg. It’s undergoing an extensive renovation project — due for completion this summer — but you can still visit while it’s docked (even from your couch via 24/7 webcast — novascotiawebcams.com).

The copy of the 1921 Bluenose, built in 1963, is a Nova Scotia icon, and tours the waterfront, giving visitors a unique look at the picturesque town. Many of Lunenburg’s historic buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries are still operational — land-lovers may consider an architectural tour of the town recognized by UNESCO as being North America’s best remaining example of a British settlement.
