Welcome to the Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Agency
The LQRDA is at an exciting turning point in its development, having recently undertaken a repositioning exercise aimed at establishing a clear and renewed focus. The message that we received from all our stakeholders is clear: “Do fewer things better” and those fewer things must be initiatives that will truly increase economic prosperity and the tax base. Given this, the forward-focus is primarily that of business development and strategic sector development.
This has resulted in an enhanced mandate for the organization:
On behalf of its municipal, provincial and federal stakeholders, the LQRDA fosters business development by focusing our efforts on workforce initiatives and immigration, strategic business retention and expansion activities, supporting foreign and domestic inward investment attraction and supporting community based economic development initiatives of regional significance.
The Vision
Ensuring a strong and sustainable economic foundation on which the region’s social and community objectives can be achieved.
The Mission Statement
As Lunenburg Queens’ lead economic development agency, its mission is to retain, grow and attract quality businesses and jobs to the region.
The Values Statement
The LQRDA is an organization that values trust, integrity, teamwork, open communications and care and opportunity for its citizens.
The Mandate
On behalf of its municipal, provincial and federal stakeholders, the LQRDA fosters business development by focusing our efforts on workforce initiatives and immigration, strategic business retention and expansion activities, supporting foreign and domestic inward investment attraction and supporting community based economic development initiatives of regional significance.
About the RDA
The LQRDA is the lead economic development organization for Nova Scotia’s south shore and is ISO 9001:2008 certified. RDAs are not-for-profit organizations responsible for leading economic development at the regional level, under the authority of the Nova Scotia Regional Community Development Act.
Our work is guided by the cross-cutting principles of sustainable economic development and the needs identified in our Five-Year Strategic Plan and 2011-12 Business Plan.
One of the most compelling reasons for the LQRDA to exist is its role as catalyst to leverage the wide variety of organizations that impact economic development in the Lunenburg Queens region. There is no other organization in the region with this mandate and it is one at which the LQRDA should excel.
The agency's four core focus areas are: Business Growth, Workforce Development, Immigration and Regional Intelligence.
