Working in partnership with local farm market vendors, the LQRDA hosted an information and networking session for farmers’ markets from across the region. The half-day session was the result of a conversation that started back in the fall of 2010 with several farm market vendors and organizers expressing a desire to come together to share ideas and information of relevance to everyone. More importantly, the group saw an opportunity to connect farmers’ markets throughout the region for further networking and collaboration.

The event was highlighted by presentations from Katie Fraser, Food Safety Specialist with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Rowena Hopkins, coordinator, Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia Co-operative Ltd. The 20+ participants in attendance left with an abundance of information, resources and connections. The organizing committee will be meeting again in April to review session evaluations and to discuss other regional initiatives.
