HB Studios joins growing NS industry at game developers conference

HB Studios, also of Lunenburg, makes a habit of attending a circuit of industry conferences. The electronic entertainment company specializes in console, handheld, computer and iOS video games, and will send four representatives to its seventh appearance at the San Francisco conference.
General manager Alastair Jarvis said some business deals with industry heavy-hitters can take years to materialize, so attending the conference helps hone personal relationships and gives the firm a reputation within the industry. Jarvis’ calendar during the conference is already filled with back-to-back meetings.
The emerging opportunities in the gaming world today aren’t to be overlooked, either.
“People are playing more games than ever before,” Jarvis said Tuesday. “The industry is growing at an incredible pace in terms of revenue and the kinds of games people are playing are different. There’s a huge amount of growth out there and we have a lot of confidence in this as an industry and as a great industry for Nova Scotia.”
